Sustainable Development Goals


ECO-UNESCO, Irelands’ environmental education and youth organisation, is delighted to invite you to celebrate the launch of the Sustainable Developments Goals (SDGs) and to begin empowering and mobilising youth to take action on achieving these goals.  The event is part of ECO-UNESCO’s work as a Key Partner in the Global Action Programme (GAP), UNESCO’s international implementation programme for Education Sustainable Development under Key Priority Action 4 – Mobilising and Empowering young people.

   Open to all including young people, those working with young people, ESD/DE practitioners


The event will contribute to your understanding of the Global Action Programme and specific Sustainable Development Goals bringing together young people and professionals in the field to take part in a world café style exploration. Five of the Sustainable Development Goals that most impact the environment and biodiversity of the world will be discussed. The participants will be guided through this exploration using various methodologies, which will empower the participants to take action on these goals.

After the initial exploration the participants will be encouraged to develop a plan of action that they will be able to implement and present at these years Young Environmental Awards in support of the Global Action Programme (GAP).

The event will also have a social media aspect and we would encourage all participants to take advantage of the hashtag #IcommittoSDGs and join in on the conversation and celebration on the day.

This event will only be the beginning for the participants as they start to take action on the Sustainable Develop Goals.
