CASD Teacher Training

Supporting the Action Project

Thursday 20 August, 2026, 11:30 – 16:30

In person at the ECO-UNESCO Office, 9 Burgh Quay, Dublin D02 FD85

About This Training

This training is designed to support CASD teachers in delivering the Action Project element of the course. The session will take teachers through the process step-by-step, with opportunities to participate in learning activities and to connect and brainstorm with fellow teachers. Since 2000, ECO-UNESCO has worked with secondary schools across Ireland to support the delivery of effective action projects through the Young Environmentalist Awards, and this session draws on that experience to use the YEA Framework and Manual, to meet the needs of CASD teachers. The day is interactive and workshop-based, with lunch provided and a free YEA Manual for each participant.

Learning Outcomes

Through this training, CASD teachers will:

  • Build confidence in the Action Project process by working through the framework step-by-step
  • Explore ways to help students choose an issue, create an action plan, and take action
  • Review sample student actions and research relevant projects across thematic areas
  • Explore approaches to completing the Action Project journal
