HOW THE AWARD WORKS

Organisations progress through three stages over three years, building stronger sustainability practices over time. 

At each level you complete actions, gather evidence and demonstrate your impact. 

BRONZE

Getting Started.

Understanding where your organisation currently stands and laying the foundation for more sustainable operations.

SILVER

Building. 

At this stage, you’re building on your progress and deepening the impact of your work.

GOLD

Leading. 

Now in your third year, you’re leading the way in sustainability and are an example for other organisations.

Bronze Award - Getting Started

The first step in your sustainability journey.

STEP ONE: Create a vision for what it means to be a sustainable organisation. 

STEP TWO: Begin using Education for Sustainable Development

STEP THREE: Identify opportunities to improve

STEP FOUR: Take initial sustainability actions

STEP FIVE: Engage your team and participants

STEP SIX: Make people aware you’re taking part

STEP SEVEN: Complete a self-assessment across the 8 SDG themes

STEP EIGHT: Submit evidence of your progress to ECO-UNESCO

*Minimal scoring required to achieve award
