Young people from ECO-UNESCO’s Youth for Sustainable Development Global Youth Leaders for Change programme took part in Barefeet Theatre’s 2014 Ireland Tour yesterday, 3 July. Approximately 30 young people from the group participated in a parade in Dublin city centre which went from ECO-UNESCO’s The Greenhouse on Andrew Street to Smock Alley Theatre in Temple Bar. The parade was a colourful spectacle of music, dancing and acrobatics with the Barefeet group stopping off at various locations to provide special performances for the delighted onlookers.
ECO-UNESCO’s Youth for Sustainable Development group, along with participating in the parade, also raised awareness of environmental issues amongst the general public.
When the parade reached Smock Alley, the Youth for Sustainable Development participants along with other young people performed a short five minute play called ‘Earth’ before the Barefeet Theatre group performed their own production ‘Float’.
