- Learn new practical scientific skills for identifying species of native plants and animals, whilst gaining a greater appreciation for local surroundings
- Learn how to protect and conserve the natural heritage and biodiversity
- Learn practical ecological field work skills, which incorporate prescribed methodologies for the Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificate examinations
