The Glen Youthreach Community Garden
In 2009 The Glen Youthreach Centre was burnt to the ground. By 2010 they were giving tours of their community garden to elderly members of their local community.
How did this dramatic transformation happen? Having found a new premises on an abandoned lot, they started from scratch to turn a drab grey area into an oasis of green in a troubled community. This is just one more success story from hundreds of ECO-UNESCO Young Environmentalist Awards projects carried out by thousands of young people throughout Ireland each year.
